collaborating

Collage for jen polaroid aug 08   a polaroid of my contribution to our project

One of the best things that has come out of me having a blog has been the opportunity to collaborate with other artists.  I am always so excited when someone want to work on a project with me.  I have received so many amazing things and gotten so inspired by how our projects have inspired my partners.

My most recent collaboration is with Jen of Painted Fish Studio.  We each found a vintage photo that spoke to us and sent it to the other person.  We in turn took the picture and came up with a story of sorts with whatever medium we chose.  I guess it was kind of understood that we would do a collage of some sort.  It was so much fun and I am absolutely thrilled with what Jen sent.

Jen and I already have another project in the works.  This time it includes some words and of course my favorite kind of camera.

So for any of you who have wanted to ask but haven't. Yes I'd love to collaborate with you, what did you have in mind?

Finally, I did want to say thank you to typepad, I am honored to be a featured blog on their homepage today. If you are a new reader welcome, I'm glad you stopped by.

putting it together

Hello

The name of my blog is scissors.paper.glue but lately there hasn't been much of that around here has there?  When I first started this blog, I intended to show my collage work here.   Since then my blog has evolved, my creativity has evolved.  I have been struggling to find a way to incorporate my love for collage with my love for taking polaroids.  The above is my first attempt at that.  I am not 100% happy with the result but I think it is a start.

looking for inspiration

Elephant

The last few days I have been looking for inspiration.  Literally.  I took a look in a Salvation Army on the way home from picking up about 100 vintage books (free).  I came away with more books, the above elephant and a few other things I will share soon.  I then went to an antique mall and found a typewriter and a cool old camera.  Then crossed the street to another antique store and came away with two more old cameras, one that is my favorite color blue.  All for really, really, really cheap.  So for the next few day I hope to be taking some photos.  I am also going to try and shoot for a shop update in the next week or so.  As much as I am sad to see summer end, it really is nice to get back into a rhythm.  Carving out creative time is not easy especially in an unstructured summer setting.

I feel a little out of touch lately.  I hope all my blog friends are well.  xoxo jen
